This project involved designing a 70-page Master’s Thesis for a close colleague. I particularly enjoyed the creative freedom I was given, as aside from the required 8.5 x 11″ document size, I had complete autonomy over the design process.
With my new found freedom, I started with
a 6 x 8 grid, and played with various pages alternating between a 2-column layout and a 1-column layout using 2/3 page width.
I also added a small visual marker on the outside margin of each page to act like breadcrumbs for a reader which moved down the page in each progressive chapter.
This training manual directed parents and student athletes in applying for collegiate sports scholarships. It was designed for a self-publishing author and was destined for both print and ePublications, both in black and white only.
